Engineer Transmission Operations

We are fortunate to have an outstanding workforce of diverse and highly skilled talent who move us forward in our operational excellence journey.  PSEG has more than 12,000 employees who are dedicated to the communities we serve and embody our vision: People providing Safe, Reliable, Economic and Greener Energy.   The Transmission Operation Engineer is responsible for providing engineering and technical support to the Transmission Control Center to enable the safe, economic, and reliable operation of the electric generation, transmission and substation systems.  Some of the major responsibilities of this position include:  Maintenance and support of all TSM network model applications including state estimator, contingency analysis and dispatcher training simulator functions. Support the maintenance of the Power Network Analysis model by incorporating changes made in the transmission system to support planning and real time operation of the electric transmission system.  Scheduling and coordination of all work on the generation, transmission and substation systems.  This will include the implementation of procedural best practices and on-going process improvement in an effort to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the outage coordination process. Create, maintain and updatereports relating to the normal and contingency operation of the electric system (voltage reduction, transmission and substation equipment ratings, alarm settings, under-frequency settings, generation capability curves, load reductions, etc.) to support efficient and reliable operation. Interface with various divisions and departments in resolving and tracking the progress of resolutions to operating problems in support of reliable system operation. Maintain transmission outage data and resolution of all follow-up items to ensure reliable performance. Support the development of equipment ratings and maintain equipment ratings database and SCADA database to ensure reliable system performance. Provide technical support to the transmission Control Center in the resolution is system failures and problems to ensure reliable system performance. Perform system and operating studies as required for planned work and for real time operations to support peak and other unique system configurations assuring reliable operation. Support and provide compliance assurance through appropriate documentation to ensure LIPA compliance with all regulating agencies (NERC, NPCC, NYSRC, etc.). Monitor and report on any incidents, potential hazards and/or environmental concerns in order to ensure area of work complies with SHE policies/ regulatory requirements. Attend the New York Independent System Operator Training Seminar twice a year.   Education and Competancies: Required: Bachelor's degree in Engineering  Must have comprehensive computer skills (including Access, Excel and Word) in order to utilize numerous computer applications. Leadership and excellent interpersonal skills are required. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time and be able to prioritize work and provide leadership during critical system events. Must be comfortable with making decisions often with limited input and extreme time constraints. Must have excellent problem solving skills. Excellent written and clear oral communication skills. Employees selected for this position will be required to participate in federally mandated drug and alcohol testing programs. Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
